Tuğcan Dökmen is a London based Turkish designer. She founded her womenswear label TĞCN after her graduation from Royal College of Art, MA Fashion Womenswear Course in 2015.
As a womenswear designer coming from a print background, Tuğcan has developed her own sense of colour, use of material and beadworking while studying BA Fashion Print at Central Saint Martins College. Before and after graduation in 2012, she further developed her skills while working with many stylists and training with several fashion houses including BLESS Paris, Diane von Furstenberg, Hussein Chalayan, GILES, and BEYMEN.
In 2015, she was selected as one of the winners of the International CFDA+ Award and received Swarovski Sponsorship for her MA graduate collection.
She exhibited her SS17 collection first at BFC Designer Showrooms during London Fashion Week, and later at Paris Fashion Week. TĞCN SS17 is a spin-off of her critically acclaimed MA graduate collection Sherbet Nymphs, where she further developed her layering tulle and custom made beads techniques by painting lines on the body and creating a modern ombre effect by softening and freshening up the use of lines in textile. Her ephemeral style creates fresh and playful elegance and an innovative vision.
Through her label TĞCN, she carries on exploring her concepts, techniques and effortless but yet energetic feminine aesthetic.
“I am excited to be on this very helpful programme. After years of design education and creativity-focused training, it is a whole new -and mostly overwhelming- world to form a sustainable business structure that allows you to have time to carry on exploring your creative boundaries. I am very grateful to receive feedback and mentoring from CFE professionals during the early stages of my business.” – Tuğcan Dökmen
