Trained at Bunka & Phalie studio, Indonesian-born Tex Saverio graduated from design school in Jakarta and founded his eponymous haute couture label, Tex Saverio Prive in 2010. Renowned for his dramatic, theatrical creations worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian, Tex also created an exquisite wedding gown with an organza corset and Swarovski crystal embellishments for Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Eschewing traditional Indonesian aesthetic codes, Tex does, however, draw on the impeccable craftsmanship of local artisans to imbue his garments with a contemporary take on local heritage. With a string of awards to his name: Winner of the Mercedes-Benz Asia Fashion Award 2005, Inspiring People Award 2011 by HP, Amica Indonesia Awards 2011 – Most Talented Young Fashion Designer, Tex’s visionary approach and unique aesthetic has won him a cult following. His incredible creations will soon be more readily accessible in a new incarnation as a ready-to-wear line, which he is launching with the help of his business partner Faye Liu.
“Participating in the CFE program via Indonesia Fashion Forward has been crucial in reaffirming our own thoughts and beliefs about the industry and allowing us to make major business decisions, especially on launching in Paris Fashion Week for our first RTW collection, roughly 10 months from the inception of our company. We would have not dared this attempt without the guidance and assistance from the CFE program. The CFE program has also allowed us to better balance the desires of the creative side and the pragmatic requirements of the business side.”– Tex Saverio
