Glaswegian designer, illustrator and radical creative Charles Jeffrey, 25, has been hailed by Dazed as ‘the ringleader of London’s next generation of club kids.’
His brand Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY encompasses a fashion label and a cult club night, each informing the other. The LOVERBOY night forms the primary research for Jeffrey’s collections, with his tribe of friends and creative collaborators – artists, performers, musicians, drag queens and poets – contributing to the egalitarian spirit of the brand. Jeffrey works with set designer Jack Appleyard on the creative direction for the label’s runway shows and special projects.
Whilst studying for his BA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, Charles was invited to hold his birthday party at legendary cult East London venue VF Dalston (Vogue Fabrics). After the event became one of the most talked-about happeningsin London, Jeffrey began the LOVERBOY series to fund his MA course at CSM. After undertaking an internship in the couture atelier at Christian Dior, Jeffrey’s work was spotted by Lulu Kennedy MBE. Charles Jeffrey shows as part of Fashion East’s MAN line-up in partnership with Topman. His SS17 collection, which will be shown in June 2016, will be his second showing with MAN. Jeffrey’s illustrations are sold via SHOWstudio.
The Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY AW16 collection will be carried by stores including Dover Street Market (in London, New York & Ginza), VFILES, and Joyce in Hong Kong.
