Christopher Raeburn for Victorinox – A collaboration first

CFE supported Venture designer Christopher Raeburn is known for his pioneering concept of creating ethically aware, Innovative men’s and womenswear collections from re -appropriated military fabrics. Admired for his ‘intellectual’ aesthetics, exceptional quality and fastidious attention to detail he has attracted considerable global attention from press and buyers alike.
Victorinox – makers of the original Swiss Army Knife, recognising Christopher’s outstanding talent and innovative approach invited him to work with them on a unique collaboration,
Using decommissioned military stocks of uniforms, blankets, bed sheets, parachutes and sleeping bag outers Christopher created an eight piece limited edition capsule collection for Victorinox, the culmination of which was unveiled and launched last week at New York Fashion to rapturous applause.
Each item in the collection is limited to only 100 hundred pieces and will be sold through Victorinox boutiques as well as 25 boutique stores globally for Autumn Winter 11.

CFE designers – Top of the awards tables

CFE designers have received a myriad of high profile accolades in the last 6 months
Meadham Kirchhoff -The British Fashion Council Award for Emerging Talent, Ready-to-Wear 2010
Recognising their visionary aesthetic and extraordinary fashion talent, Centre for Fashion Enterprise designers scooped the award the British Fashion Council ceremony in December 2010. Fashion Forward Award 2011 Meadham Kirchhoff saw off a hot list of fashion talent to win the award along side Peter Pilotto ex CFE Venture designers and Todd Lynn ex CFE Pioneer designer. The three winners will receive sponsorship for the next two seasons to show their collections at London fashion week.
Mary Katrantzou - Swiss Textile Award 2010
For the past two years the award has gone to American designers Rodarte and Alexander Wang, but in November 2010, Centre for Fashion Enterprise Venture designer Mary Katrantzou beat Jason Wu, Adam Kimmel, Juun Ju and Damir Doma to take the 100,000 euro award. Mary’s high profile stockists include Harvey Nichols, Browns, Matches and Joseph in London, Barneys New York, Collette Paris and Luisa Via Roma Italy.
Thomas Tait – Dorchester Award 2010
New Venture designer Thomas Tait won the inaugural Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize in October 2010, before joining the CFE in December. He fought off strong competition from Mary Katrantzou, CFE Venture designer, Hermione De Paula, CFE Pioneer designer, Chau Har Lee and Louise Goldin. Manolo Blahnik one of the judges on the panel described his work as “Exceptional and wonderful” Thomas received £25.000 towards his next collection and a Dorchester Hotel as a venue for an event of his choice.
Meadham Kirchhoff, Mary Katrantzou and Thomas Tait will be showing their Autumn Winter 2011 collections on the catwalk as part of London Fashion Week in February.
